When You Wish Upon a Star by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

When You Wish Upon a Star...
32 x 48 inches Oil on Canvas.
Available Paintings by Laurie Pace

This painting has been in holding part of a show and this is the first time I have to share it with you. This painting almost sums up 2013 but it was painted in June last year. It was so darn much fun to paint this one... the energy was huge in the studio, music was country and a mix of gospel... and the colors just fell into place exactly like I felt... the dark of night and the light from above providing the path.

We had just returned to the DFW area almost a year ago. It was March 25th and I still marvel at the wonder of being home and closer to family.
God is good, all the time, God is good.

This painting is available through Davis&Co Gallery in Spring, Texas. The Gallery has it's grand opening the last weekend in March.  I hope to see you there then.

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7 KJV

Vast Horse Painting #7, by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014

VAST
9 x 12 inches Oil on Canvas.
Available Here.

I love using left over palette. I have been working on a buffalo painting and of course these are some of the strongest colors in the painting and I had 'leftovers' on my palette.  There is a natural flow to both the color and the movement which is really neat to me as I rotated the canvas adding colors not really paying attention to the patterns or overlays. The composition is as strong as the single horse as a strong foundation behind the 'etching' of the horse.  Touches of Lavender, reds, oranges, mauves and turquoise season the painting.

9 x 12 inches, this freshly painted oil is Horse #7 in this years 100 Horses for $100, but please note NOT in 100 days.  These are so creative and magical to me as I paint them, I want to keep them fresh and unforced. This is a second series, with the first 100 horse series being released in summer 2012 and all 100 pieces sold.  I am thinking next year it may have to change for pricing to be adjusted up as well as the number completed.

Fun to collect.

All The King’s Daughters, Ink & Watercolor Progress by Deborah Flood

"All The King's Daughters" © Deborah Flood 2014
20 x 16
Work in Progress:

All the king's daughters progress 4 Medium Web view

I’m not one to create many paintings with a Religious theme. And I’m not one who shouts about religion from the roof tops, and demand that everyone follow my beliefs. I’m more of a laid back Christian, who seeks her own path and beliefs in a quiet introvert way.

I do love hearing about many of the different Histories, about different religion. It’s interesting to me, and the Missions and Churches in El Paso, Texas really spoke to me. Their architecture, their stories, their stained glass windows. Everything about the era when they were built, the hardships of the people and so much more.
As of late, I have created a few paintings with Some El Paso Mission Doors in them. The colors of the woods, and the history behind those doors, all find their way into my paintings of late.

Am I on a new path? A new Journey? A Spiritual awakening? I don’t know. I just know I am following it, with my paint. And as I go, that horse is always present, or close by, in my art. Horses will always be a constant role model, story teller and spiritual message in my works.

The stained glass window in this painting, All The King’s Daughters, is in the SAN LORENZO CHURCH, El Paso, Texas. I was very fortunate to be able to have visited this Church, and many Missions, on the Mission’s Trail in El Paso, Texas, in July of 2013.

I bet you are asking, why so much yellow? Well, I wanted the challenge! The girls dressed in yellow, with a red detailed rug draped over a Palomino, and red and gold parasol. Placing them in front of that yellow stained glass window. I knew it would present a challenge for me. Yellow isn’t always the easiest color to use. Especially when the objects are placed over one another. So, I am working that out, and seeing what I can do with it. It is very interesting, and keeps my mind engaged with the creative process.

Settled In. Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Settled In
8 x 8 inches Oil on Canvas.
Available Here.

I have been working on the Buffalo painting and will start posting my progress on it by Monday. These are small  equine paintings that are done with a palette knife that I did this week. I hope you enjoy them.

This is another horse painting that evolved from a layer of left over acrylics... dried and then layering of the same colors in oils and then the horse.  Isn't that what our lives are about? Layering of experience in making up who we are?

Do we really ever get settled into life?  Seems like we are always wanting more, waiting for things to change, hoping tomorrow is better, when in reality we only have this moment at this time to find our joy.

"Summertime" by Elizabeth Zimmerman

"Summertime"
5" x 7"
Watercolor
SOLD

Here is a nice little painting I finished yesterday. When I posted an in progress photo of it, I was immediately sent a message by a woman in Maine who wanted first dibs at the original. And last night all the "t's" were crossed. I will be sending it to her tomorrow. :-)

But back to this particular painting, the original reference photo had the cowgirl riding down a long dusty gravel road. She was leading an extra saddled horse and in a line up of many more riders. I took the photo back in 2009 on my Horse Trek (I rode 185 miles over 8 days through the Cascade Mountains from Scotts Mill to Dufur - all in Oregon). The cowgirl had a purple flower in her palm leaf and I thought it would be perfect for her to be riding through a peaceful field of lavender flowers with velvety green trees as the background. It reminds me of summer and the warmth and peace of it all. There was lots of snow here just over a week ago (Portland, Oregon area). I'm ready for summer. Are you?

Meadow Gaze by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014

Meadow Gaze
9 x 12 inches Oil on Canvas.
Available

This started with an acrylic base of left over paint from Tuesday night. It was dry and I began to layer on oils to match the formation of the acrylic and then I began to see the horse standing so silently in the meadow with a ray of light shining on him.

What is not to love about painting... the color, the energy and the delight of creating.  Sharing part of my creativity is really sharing the gift that God blessed me with.  I am enjoying these small pieces again and hope one finds its way into your heart.

Whirlwind
24 x 36 inches Oil on Canvas.
Available by clicking here.

Reposting this one. It is dry and ready to travel to a new home. It was painted in early January and had been sketched on the canvas for about six months before I finally painted it.  Laced with color, contrast, thick paint and lots of energy, this unusual horse painting is ready to take off with your heart.

Yesterday was Stacey's birthday... my daughter turning 37. We had a girl day at the salon with highlights, cuts and the works. Even Lady L got to participate. Then it was a wonderful early birthday dinner with family for her special gathering and then back to our house for cake prepared by Kelly and Morgan.  It was a 'yummy' day and we are so blessed.

Needless to say, I did not step into the studio or down at my computer the entire day.  I have a new piece on the easel and tomorrow will post the beginning progress shots. It is a painting for a collector in Colorado of buffalos.

Horse 2/14/14

Available, email me.

I was working after our Valentine Dinner last night.  Too full to think about bed, so I wandered off into the studio to pick up where I left off yesterday morning.  Life got in the way of painting yesterday. Terry had sprayed all the varnish, I was trying to catch up on email and work on the AOT website and finish up my new site and time flew by.

Morning called early and I wanted to get this up on the blog before the day got away. I hope to paint more later today on another small painting. I have this urge to dibble back into two favorite areas... one is pathways and gardens and the other is figurative. I was a fashion illustrator for ten years and somewhere inside is the desire to paint the figure again.

May your weekend be blessed. May you be blessed to be a blessing to someone else.

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34-35 NIV

Cleaning up the studio today and realized I had finished this painting and never posted the final on it.  I am preparing to ship out pieces to galleries in Denver and Park City, Utah and then painting for my Lexington Gallery and my new Houston Gallery.  Finally warm temps after a long winter of cold cold. My creative juices are flowing again.

Original Acrylic Artwork by Oklahoma Equine Artist Jonelle T. McCoy

"Live Again"

On January 30th, I lost my 28 year old niece unexpectedly. It hit my family and her parents very badly, and I as well. I live a distance away so my visits have been quite limited. Last time I saw her was at Christmas 2012. I cannot wrap my mind around that I will never see her again, get hugs, hear her laughter, see her beautiful eyes and rosy cheeks. I spent days in tearful grief, and as I've come to do, was moved to put my feelings on canvas. I had started this painting already but it soon morphed into the message I have for her- "Live Again". I know it can't come true physically, but her memory will never die. This is for you Jessica. Love you, Aunt Jonelle
