The Brumby Whisperer

The Brumby Whisperer

Well I think this fellow is finally finished... didn't want to add to much colour to the horses mane being white or cream in colour it could have become quite messy.

The Brumby Whisperer will be part of the Arizona exhibition in August unless sold before hand

Close quarters Mustang Watercolor Daily Painting by Debbie Flood

To keep my drawing & painting skills honed and have a little fun, I'm going to do a daily painting for awhile. They will be horses, probably a Mustang type of horse, since I have a strong feeling to paint them. Today I created "Close quarters". This is a watercolor on watercolor board. 6 inches x 8 inches. I'm offering these quick studies for $50.00 USD and $5.95 shipping in the USA. I accept Paypal.
Interested inquiries may come to my email

Partner Midnight Dance Abstract Horse Painting by Texas Equine Artist Laurie Pace

Partner Midnight Dance
20 x 20 Acrylic on Canva
This was painted similar to a piece I did last year with a single horse in it.
My reference photo as two horses in it so I decided to paint both of them in it this time.  I think I am done, but will look at it one more time later today.

The Brumby Whisperer.. work in progress

The Brumby Whisperer Stage 2

Started work on the horses head .. blocking his head and neck... and started work on the horsemans face and beard..

Some artists make beards on men look so easy.. Ive decided its a challenge as you dont want it to look like a line around the jaw but dont want it to look like a muddy puddle either.

Will continue working on the horse and then come back and re-work the horsemans face..

The Brumby Whisperer is10" x 14" and watercolour

The Brumby Whisperer - work in progress

The Brumby Whisperer - work in progress

I have a soft spot for brumbies not just because I learnt to ride on one as a small child that my grandfather owned or the fact that I now own my own brumby boy Star..

They are a breed of horse unlike any other I have ever met, intelligent, funny and loyal.. I wanted to show the bond that can be created between man and a wild spirit..

Hence the Brumby Whisperer was born.

The Brumby Whisperer will be 10" x 14" and is in  watercolour

It will be part of my exhibition pieces for the exhibition I will be part of in Sedona Arizona in August 2011

"Percheron Period"

I've been doing a lot of Percherons lately!

Both pieces above are the same horse, with different handlers.  It shows the versatility of the horse, in action, and in waiting mode.  I just loved the connection she had with each person.

It seems like I've been going through a period of purely Percheron horses lately!  For a while it was like that, but I've been working on some Belgians too.  To see more of my recent work, go to  or "Fine Art by Anda" on Facebook....

Dream scape, Resin Pony Model from the Trail of Painted Ponies by Debbie Flood

This is Dream scape. A Resin Pony Model, I purchased the blank from the Trail of Painted Ponies and created a little girl in a sleeper, fast asleep upon her dark dream horse. This Model sparkles with Gold and Blue Sparkles that shimmer on the horse and the girl. $250.00 plus $20.00 shipping in the USA. Contact

Haven't we all had those horse dreams when growing up as a child? Don't some of us still have those dreams, even as an adult? This model will surly take you back to those days of innocent dreaming.

Speaking of dreaming, one of mine is about to come true! Today I booked my plane tickets and car rentals for Angel Fire, New Mexico! I have been invited by Angel Fire ArtSpace Gallery to have a one woman show in June! Opening Reception is June 24, 2011. Mark your calendars if you are in the area! Northern New Mexico, 30 minutes from Taos!  I'll have Western Themed Watercolors there, and you can meet me June 24th!

"Big Harry" by Pat Schermerhorn

I found out today that this huge beautiful English Shire died this week. I guess they found him dead in his stall. Really sad for me, the picture I did of him has brought me so much luck. The lady who owned him must be really lost. The residents of Cody will also miss him. He was a staple every Christmas. Brought into town for the kids to get thier pictures taken with him. This is the painting I have on the winter on line show.

Traveling Three Horse Oil Paintings by Texas Equine Artist Laurie Pace, CFAI, Artists of Texas

Traveling Three

11 x 14  Oil on Canvas

© Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2011

This was painted exactly a year ago today.  My dearest and oldest friend was shot to death in Shreveport LA by one of her students.  Today was the first day of the trial of the 17 year old that shot her. This is a day I will never forget....and my prayers are with my friend's family, her husband, her mother and her daughters. This painting holds a dear place in my heart almost like the tears that fell as I finished it.  We are indeed on a journey in our lifetime and it is what we do for others that matters and makes a difference. Spread the light and the energy.

Horse puzzle challenge!

Buy a 252 Piece Puzzle w/Box Gift by Donna Ridgway

How about a challenge?  Do you like doing puzzles?  Do you think you could place all those pieces of brown together to recreate these horses?

I call this "The Enforcer" because it's so typical of the way horses behave.  One horse is always above the other in the pecking order.  The bay in this photo, was picking on the other horse, teasing him unmercifully.  The sorrel finally decided he'd had enough, and he put the bay into his place in the herd!  Neither horse was hurt, this was just "horse play".  I was excited to catch this moment and offer it to you as a puzzle!

You can find other puzzles and gifts with my images on the same site.  Take some time to look around and enjoy the images I find in Montana, to present to you!
